I missed Weilan week, because I am so very bad at keeping up with social media. It's probably just as well, since I really needed to focus on the fic for the Zhenhun Big Bang which is now four times longer than I expected it to be and still has several scenes to go.

I've also signed up for the Sundial Exchange (I joined the fandom exactly too late to do it last year, so this will be fun. I'm still a little bummed that my recipient for the 520 exchange didn't like their fic, so this feels like a chance for a do over). Oh, and Fandom Trees because what is self control. But it's mostly ficlets it looks like? With a 100 word minimum so it will hopefully be a good opportunity to write some fun prompt fics without getting sucked into another 30-40k story.

(So sorry about your 520 Day fic! I've had exchange recipients not responding on occasion, and it sucks. FWIW, it doesn't mean they didn't like it - sometimes people just forget.)

I didn't even see it on Twitter this time! I'm clearly following the wrong people (also I clearly only check social media sporadically ^_^').

And true, they could have been busy or forgotten about it entirely while dealing with real life things, though in that case I'd almost prefer they simply didn't like it. Either way, the upcoming exchange will be a fun distraction.

Whereas I knew it was coming, didn't decide to join in till the last minute and then got confused about time zones, so I've been totally out of synch with the schedule and only done four so far (I think?). They do allow a week's grace, if you wanted to jump in late with some, fwiw.

The experience itself was great! It was a really well-run and organized fic event. It's just a bummer when your recipient doesn't like/see their gift :( I'm excited about Sundial, though!

FWIW, in a different fandom I worked hard on an exchange gift and never got a comment or kudos from the recipient. Months later, they casually mentioned to me on Twitter: "I downloaded the story you wrote for me to my phone and I re-read it all the time. I loved it!" So you never can tell.
