May. 15th, 2009 12:05 pmMy brother is hassling me to get a Facebook account - mostly so everyone from our high school will stop asking him where I am. I am resisting getting a Facebook account for EXACTLY THE SAME REASON. I'm tempted to get one because a bunch of people from college I haven't spoken with in a while are on there, but I barely pay any attention to the Internet as it is.
Work is intersting. Business is down, which isn't a surprise, since it's down for pretty much everyone. Corporate is starting to get pretty creative about how to deal with that. They want our merchandising managers to start cold-calling local businesses and offering catering services from our cafe. I'm like, really? I mean, I'll do it if they want me to, but I wouldn't hire us to cater an event. We're expensive. And we have a very limited selection.
Oh, and remember the foot I broke a few months ago? Which turned out to be not just broken? Yeah. Still hurts. I keep re-injuring it because I have a job where I'm on my feet more or less constantly for 9 hours a day. And the new boss-guy won't let anyone take vacation because he wants us all focused on building sales. Meanwhile, I have 88 hours of vacation time left for this year that is going to expire on June 30th and it's a use it or lose it situation. I've put in for two weeks in June and if he fusses at me, I'm bringing the District Manager into it. I'm not going to limp for the rest of my life because there's no one else who can run my department, despite the fact that I've been saying for more than a year that we need to cross train people.
And in other news, I'm getting sucked into Kirk/Spock fandomagain and it's all
kahn's fault. As it so often is.
Why is there no Chekov/Sulu fandom? Seriously, am I the only one who ever went there?I mean, aside from LA Graf.
