The Princess and the Hound by Mette Ivie Harrison is a fantastic young adult novel. It's a very long, very beautiful story - a fairy tale in the best tradition. I won't say too much about the story except that even though it isn't suspenseful (after all, there's something of a formula to fairy tales, isn't there?) it is compelling and the characters are vibrant. The three main female characters are all very strong women in very different ways (though flawed, too,) and the men are more than the typical "prince, king, hunter".
I just started reading Tomorrow's Magic by Pamela Service. I haven't gotten into it yet, so I can't say much, but it looks interesting. The premise is that 500 years after a nuclear holocaust wiped out most of humanity, Merlin is reborn as a teenager in the ruins of England.
Anyone have any book recs for me?
