Five seconds into Newport News and the air tastes like heat and ozone and the sky is pitch black above the city lights. Everything is heavy and hot and moist, and the wind is hard in off the ocean. The weather is very much "Holy shit, start building the ark, boys."
Which would be nice, because at 11:01 PM, the temperature outside is 92F degrees. Rain could only help at this point.
