onemuseleftI've figured out how to zombie-proof my apartment using approximately 100 feet of chains/wire (chains for preference) and a few padlocks. It would require the cooperation of my neighbors however, or at least a lack of interference, and it would also trap us in as effectively as it would trap the zombies out. Which means that if a neighbor was infected before we sealed ourselves in, we'd be trapped here with him/her.
We could just destroy the stairs, but they are metal and attached to the building, so it would require some serious effort - and I doubt anyone living here has the equipment necessary to do it in a short period of time.
Can zombies climb trees? If they can, we're screwed anyway, since the big tree in the courtyard has thick branches that come within a few inches of the upstairs breezeway.
Maybe we could just seal off the downstairs entryways to the courtyard? No, because the zombies could just get into the first floor apartments through the streetside windows and then break into the courtyard. Back to the drawing board, I guess.
