Read One Piece, they said. It has pirates, they said. It's smarmy, they said. You'll like it, they said.
Oh, yes, fine. All very good. But they neglected to mention that it was 1) addicting 2) unavailable except in highly edited (anime) or extremely sparse (SJ manga) amounts and 3) addicting.
*glares* And there's practically no gen fic to be found. It's all romance and PWP, which isn't exactly my cup of tea. I want pirates with plot! I want pillaging! I want a bunch of social misfits with serious trust issues to exerience wacky hijinks and misadventures on the high seas while pursuing their dreams!
