Dec. 16th, 2007 04:34 pmSaw The Golden Compass with Barbara the other night. It was a good movie, but they sort of whitewashed it, for lack of a better word. ( minor spoiler ) and the Master was made out to be a hero of justice instead of a man walking a moral tightrope. Plus, the way they chose to end it made it very... well, peaceful and pretty and calm. I walked out of the movie thinking "well, that was nice" instead of "holy fuck!" like I did at the end of the book.
The "It's atheist propoganda!" nonsense amuses me. Dear Panicking Lemmings: If God exists in the book, it cannot be an atheist how-to guide. Atheists? Don't believe in God. See how that works?
Anyway the movie barely mentions religion at all (I think the only reference to a church or religion is that there are religious images painted on the side of the bad guy's hideout, but honestly, I might have missed something).
In Real Life...
Weird. Weird and crazy. Work is even worse. There are only eight more shopping days till Christmas and I work in retail.GodLyraBuddha?Harry Potter help me.
