I have eBay and Half.com accounts, and since I'm paranoid about identity fraud since the Sylvestor Stallone thing several years ago, I have one credit card with a relatively low limit that I use for eBay and absolutely NOTHING else. That way I always know exactly how much is supposed to be on it at any given moment, and if anything strange shows up, I know immediately.

Recently I've been getting emails from eBay that are rather odd, so I reported them. Lo and behold, at the same time I started getting emails from the credit card company of the card I use only for eBay. I reported those as well.

All of them are fraudulent, and there's been no activity on the card, but still. Looks like someone got into my eBay account to me. I've changed the password and notified eBay and the credit card company, but still. Rather annoying.

There are times when I'm convinced the internet is far more trouble than it's worth, but then I remember that plenty of little old ladies get ripped off everyday because the bad guys went through their trash and stole their statements.
