Oct. 2nd, 2005 01:37 amMy neighbors tend to be pretty loud - muiac late at night, shouting, etc. Nothing huge, but pretty annoying. I tend to let it go as long as they don't keep me up at night.
Tonight, at about one in the morning, something slams into the wall directly next to where I'm sitting. Slams into it hard enough to shake my lamp and make the junk on my desk shake (my desk is right against the wall to the bedroom in the neighbors' apartment). Then the yelling starts, only this time it's a woman screaming "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" at the top of her lungs. There's a lot more screaming, this time from a guy, and a lot more of something hitting the wall, and at this point I'm having some very unpleasant thoughts about assault.
I went downstairs and called the cops, described the situation and told the operator I was afraid my neighbor was in danger. The police were here less than fifteen minutes later. I watched them go to the apartment door, and they stayed for a while, talking.
They just left. I'm ten kinds of shaken, and I'm starting to wonder about all those other times when I thought they were just being loud.
