onemuseleftSo I'm at work and I get a call. It's Melan, and it starts out with "Kelly, I'm really sorry."
"Sorry?" I ask, immediately suspecting that she's trying to talk me into switching shifts and giving up my wonderful and rare Friday off. "What's wrong?"
There's a pause and she says, "Didn't Lynda tell you I dropped off your Static DVDs?"
So the connection of "I'm really sorry" in the same sentence with mention of my hard-to-get, probably-more-expensive-than-they're-worth-but-ever-so-GOOD Static DVDs instantly makes my brain explode.
Turns out her daughter stepped on the case and broke it, along with three of the eight DVDs. She was very apologetic and told me to buy new ones and she'd replace them no matter what. I felt kind of bad - it was an accident, after all, and these things were kind of expensive - but she says it will make her feel better, so I'm not going to argue with her.
Besides, I'm 17 pages into a fic and I want my research materials, damnit.
So I'm going to try and contact the guy I got the first set from and see if he'll have another. In the meantime, I'll manage with the remaining five disks. *sighs* Oh, the horror.
I think I will make a fanfic recs list later tonight or tomorrow. I feel like pimping things.
