It always makes me nervous when the government randomly sends me money. Admittedly, it's not a lot of money, but still. Getting a random check for $1.73 in the mail with a big red stamp that says "CALL FOR FURTHER INFORMATION" just makes me scratch my head a little.

Oh, well. I probably made the check out for too much when I paid my taxes last month. Hey, it's not a lot but that's a load of laundry.

Went to DC with Laura and Sonnet on Monday. We got off to a late start when the patented Kelly Luck With Cars kicked in. Instead of cancelling, Laura and Sonnet just came and got me in Newport News, which means we got off to a much later start than intended. We did finally get there around 5 - we had planned on getting there around 1, to give you an idea. But it was fun, and I got to see Bobby, which was very good. My brother is such a huge dork, but he's a nice one.

Plans to marry him off to [livejournal.com profile] deathgod02 are still in the works.

We got back late Monday night/Tuesday morning and slept in till ten or so. Then we got up, packed, and left for Virginia Beach. We had to stop at my place along the way, so we didn't actually get to the beach until 2, proving once again that we are just totally incapable of getting anywhere on time.

The beach was great. It was about 100 degrees all day (they'd been warning us it'd be closer to 110, so 100 was much nicer) and there was a heavy breeze, so it was very very comfortable to sit on the beach and read. I finally read Reliquary by Martha Wells, which made me laugh out loud a couple of times.

The waves weren't too big or too small and Laura and I spent a half hour or so just jumping around in the water. I made the terrible mistake of turning my back on the waves at one point and got knocked flat on my ass. Got dragged halfway out to see before I could get my legs under me again. Laura was a fat lot of help, too. She mostly just floated there and laughed at me. Mind you, I was doing pretty much the same thing.

After the beach we went to Kappo Nara for sushi and dinner (I had chicken teriyaki and imo ten with a California Roll, Sonnet had something with eggs in and eel roll and Laura had Sukiyaki Don (I think) and Inari Maki. Laura got her presents (books! Yay!) and Sonnet and Laura revealed that I got a PS2 for my birthday (glee!) which is still in Richmond, so I shall have to be patient. *sucks at patient*

After dinner we did ColdStone Creamery, and then debated seeing a PotC2. But it was already really late, and Laura and Sonnet had an hour and a half drive, so we just went to B&N where we stared at the new Sanami Matoh manga and debated whether or not I really needed to pick up The Last Mortal Man. Then Laura and Sonnet headed out and I came home.

My car, it should be noted, is still not fixed. I called Safelite and they were all "Oh, gee, I don't know why they didn't come fix it. Is tomorrow okay?"

grr. arrgh. If they don't come today I'm going to pitch a very loud, very calm fit at someone and demand some of my money back.

So, that was my "weekend." How was yours?
