Apr. 28th, 2006 06:43 amAnyway, I've been thinking about moving for a little while now. The place I live in right now is... not exactly what you'd call "nice" and the neighborhood is mostly known for the topless bar/adult video store/hourly motel across the street called the "Treasure Chest". I'm also living about 20 - 30 mins away from work (except in the summer when it's more like 45 mins) and with gas prices being what they are, that's kind of a pain.
I've been poking around at apartments, but there's not much in Newport News that's both in my price range and any less skeazy than where I live now. So I figure my best bet is to rent a room from someone who has a house and is looking to defray costs a bit. Or get a room with one of the many college students around here. I'm poking around Craigslist right now and there are a few interesting options. I already contacted one for additional details. Tomorrow I think I'll pick up the local paper and see if there's anything promising.
I need to do something to cut costs, frankly. I don't want roommates again, but it's preferable to living in a cardboard box and eating cat food. And since I need to buy a new car fast that's just one more expense I need to accommodate. And compared to trying to get around on HRT, some housemates seem like no big deal.
In totally unrelated news, I am reading Nightlife by Rob Thurman, which thus far is sort of like a crossover between The Hardy Boys, Yu Yu Hakusho and Supernatural. Actually, Cal and Niko kind of remind me of Sam and Dean a lot so far. ^_^
Bed now!
