onemuseleftApparently some news program did an expose on customer service. Best Buy got an F, which we snickered viciously over at work. I don't know about Best Buys across the country, but the one here in Newport News might as well just post signs saying "No Help Wanted". Wendy once tried to call them to see if they had something she wanted, so she didn't have to waste her entire lunch break driving there and back if they didn't have it, and she called three times and let the phone ring, but no one ever picked up.
The reporters made the point that there is a lack of good customer service, because the big corporations are only interested in making money. For the most part, I don't disagree, though I will say there are exceptions. Those exceptions, however, seem to be mostly on an individual store level: a good store manager will have a store with good customer service.
Possibly that explains Walmart.
Anyway, one of the things that has always vexxed me about customer service, is the seeming hypocrisy of some corporations. They treat their employees like crap and their customers like walking wallets, show no respect or concern for the people who buy their goods or services. But if someone complains about being treated that way, or getting poor service, they promptly buy us off with free internet for a month, or a gift certificate hoping to shut us up instead of solving the problem.
I'd be happier if they could get someone to answer the phones in person, or if my packages were delivered on time, or if there was one person in the entire store who knew where the product I want is located. Train their employees, treat them well. I bet these corporations would be amazed how much better their customer satisfaction would be.
