(no subject)

Today's my day off. I need to go to the grocery store, and I want to do some organizing of my paperwork, but other than that, the slate is clean. I'm probably going to watch my brand new DVD of the 10th Kingdom and work on some fanfic.

The weather was so nice for a few days, but it's gone back to winter for now. I miss the sun. And not freezing everytime I went outside. It's gotten bitter all of a sudden.

Verizon does indeed seem to have fixed the DSL problem. I remain skeptical. It's not going to take much for me to drop them. Especially now that I've realized how productive I am without ready access to the internet. ;) I wrote thirty pages while the internet was down. Thirty pages! That's as much as I wrote in the last two months. I definitely believe there's a connection.

Things to do today:
-go to Walmart
-go to post office
-work on YYH Fu Q Fic
-make dinner

The roommates are getting steak stiry fry tonight. I'm getting vegetarian since I gave up red meant, alcohol and ice cream for Lent. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's the time of year when Kelly puts aside the fact that she is violently opposed to the majority of the dealings of the Catholic Church, and participates in Lent. I think it's good for me. I give something up for a few weeks, and I learn that I could do without it. And I learn what it's like for others to never have it. It's not really a religious thing for me, although I understand that it's very important to a lot of people.

And last year I gave up red meat and chocolate and lost seven pounds.

Speaking of Lent, the Passion of the Christ opened yesterday. I work next door to a movie theater, as some of you know, and yesterday there were television crews down there before the theater even opened. I guess they were waiting for a riot or a bombing or something. I usually tend to acknowledge everyone's right to be annoyed about something but... it's a movie. And one I have no particular interest in seeing. Is it riddled with falsehoods, innacuracies and outright lies? How should I know, do I look like a theologian? Or a historian? But it was made by a human being and human beings are remarkably good at getting things wrong. Is it going to be upsetting to some people? Hell yes. Religion is something most of the world takes very seriously. Even people who don't believe in God/gods/ultimate powers, tend to identify themselves in terms of that ultimate power. Religion is a big deal for a whole lot of people, and the cricifixtion of Christ was, frankly, a hell of a sticking point for two major religions.

But... it's a movie. And it was made by a fallible human being. Everyone - on both sides - should try to remember that.

I Am A: Chaotic Good Half-Elf Ranger Fighter

Alignment:
Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Race:
Half-Elves are a cross between a human and an elf. They are smaller, like their elven ancestors, but have a much shorter lifespan. They are sometimes looked down upon as half-breeds, but this is rare. They have both the curious drive of humans and the patience of elves.

Primary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Secondary Class:
Fighters are the warriors. They use weapons to accomplish their goals. This isn't to say that they aren't intelligent, but that they do, in fact, believe that violence is frequently the answer.

Deity:
Solonor Thelandria is the Chaotic Good elven god of archery and the hunt. He is also known as the Keen Eye, the Great Archer, and the Forest Hunter. His followers respect nature, and only hunt when needed, but are quick to defend the forest from intruders. Their favorite weapon is the bow, and they tend to be extremely talented with it. Solonor Thelandria's symbol is an arrow with green fletchings.
